Blood Flow Restriction Training

One of the biggest frustrations during rehabilitation is being told what you can't do.

You can't run yet. You can't lift heavy yet. You need to take it easy for a few more weeks.

The problem is that strength, fitness and confidence can quickly decline during that time.

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) training gives us another option. By combining specialised cuffs with low-load exercise, we can challenge muscles and build strength without the same demands that heavy lifting places on joints, tendons and healing tissues.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing an injury or working towards a return to sport, BFR can be a valuable tool within a structured rehabilitation programme.

Who is BFR training for?

After Surgery

ACL reconstruction

Knee replacement

Shoulder surgery

Sports Injury Rehabilitation

Muscle injuries

Tendon injuries

Ligament injuries

Active Adults

Joint pain limiting heavy gym work

Strength loss after injury

Returning to exercise

Athletes and Runners

Maintaining strength during rehabilitation

Return-to-sport programmes

Performance-focused strength work

What happens in a session?

Assessment → Determine if BFR is appropriate.

Cuff fitting → Measure individual limb occlusion pressure.

Exercise programme → Low-load strengthening exercises.

Progression → Integrated into your wider rehabilitation plan.
